College Teaching

College Teaching publishes peer-reviewed articles on how instructors across all academic disciplines can improve student learning. Each issue includes practical ideas and new strategies for successful teaching. Topics may range from research on teaching methods, educational technologies, classroom management, and assessment and grading, to faculty development, course design, and interdisciplinary teaching. The Quick Fix page presents easily implemented techniques for dealing with common problems. Commentaries provide thoughtful reflections on teaching. As a source of the best and latest scholarship on teaching and learning, College Teaching offers ideas that can be implemented in the next class meeting as well as inspiration that can promote effective teaching semester after semester.

This journal publishes three kinds of articles. Regular, full-length articles of up to 5000 words report scholarship on teaching methods, educational technologies, classroom management, assessment and evaluation, and other instructional practices that have significance beyond a single discipline. Full-length articles also describe innovative courses and curricula, faculty development programs, and contemporary developments. Quick Fix articles, up to 500 words, present techniques for addressing common classroom problems. Commentaries, up to 1200 words, provide thoughtful reflections on teaching.

Journal of Teaching Writing

The Journal of Teaching Writing (JTW) is an national journal devoted to the teaching of writing at all academic levels, from pre-school to university, and in all subject areas of the curriculum. Appearing semiannually, JTW publishes refereed articles, book reviews, and professional announcements. Contributors of manuscripts receive signed and substantive reviews from members of our Editorial Board; approximately 20% of manuscript submissions are published annually. JTW has led the field in its efforts to demystify the editorial review process and to model the teaching of writing as a process of reflection and revision. Individual subscriptions are $20.00 (two issues), and institutional are $25.00. The editor encourages submission of articles from educators at all levels and in all disciplines.
