Interesting folder that I don't know what to do with: UA 9/11/1 B.4 F.7 English 1 - Finals, 1949-1966 (did they stop giving finals after that?)

Most of this box contains artifacts from the 1960s--book orders, exams, some information about English A, library test, final exams, writing samples. Lots of interesting stuff from 1960s and a bit from late 1950s.

UA 9/11/1 B.5 F.1: Fascinating folder in regard to Freshmen English and gives a sense that Don was getting exposure to a particular kind of pedagogy that was in place at UNH in 401 when he first arrived. This folder is priceless because it contains a crazy dictionary excercise, and then a Murray handout. Two completely different visions of the course... I think this shows Murray's early exposure. HE was the secretary and took meeting minutes..

Closely revisit UA 9/11/1 B.5 F.4

Observation: There were a lot of meetings and there was a set syllabus for everyone in the 1950s/60s...was this like the Amherst program, in a way, where they all meet each year and hash out the syllabus for the next year? How many sections are we talking about? How many students?

i.e. "The committee to plan next year's Freshmen English program will meet on Tuesday April 22nd at 2pm in MK 206. (April 16, 1958).

So, a transition in the late 1960/70s to more sections, graduate instruction, less faculty involvement, etc. This is the picture that's starting to emerge for me.

(This box is full of useful stuff documenting the period before the transition. I only got through part of it, though. F.4-F.9 I still need to read.)
