NDEA Institutes in English

Thank you for your patience while I researched your request. I went over to our satellite location yesterday and found the documents you were interested in:

1) NDEA - Northwestern University Summer Institute Curriculum Lessons & Composition and Public Discourse, ca., 1965
This file contains 3 booklets:
1) Lessons in the Basic Processes in Composition, Revised 1956 (150 pages)
2) A Teacher's Experience with Composition (55 pages)
3) Lessons in Simple Forms of Public Discourse (105 pages)

2) The 1965 Institutes in English (Report of a Pilot Study to Develop Criteria for Evaluating NDEA Institutes in English, ca., 1966This files contains 1 booklet: (105 pages) which is a report of a pilot study to develop criteria for evaluating NDEA Institutes in English by Donald J. Gray

3) NDEA Institute Handbook - Dr. Donald R. Tuttle, 1967 (45 pages)
This file contains a handbook detailing participants and staff that participated in the 1967 NDEA Istitute in Advanced Literary Studies and TOC lists objectives, program, informal program and teacher qualifications.

4) University of New Hampshire (UNH), Durham, N.H. July 8-August 16, 1968 (65 pages)
This file contains the final technical report on the institute for Literary Analysis and Composition for High School Teachers, correspondence, appendices, and criteria for NDEA English Institute selection

After examining the materials for a short time, based on your criteria, I think perhaps the most useful items to you would be #4, #2, #3 and perhaps #1, in that order.

We charge 40 cents a page for photocopy orders mailed within the U.S. This fee covers the cost of labor, supplies, and shipping. If you are interested in photocopies of any or all of the items listed above, please let me know and I will calculate costs for you. If you would prefer scans to be emailed to you, we charge 50 cents a page.

If you need specific information, dates or definitions, I would be happy to look through the materials for those for those things, but we are unable to examine items page by page (nor would that be effecient!) for researchers.

If you would like to move forward with duplication services, we require 2 items:

1) Our Agreement for Duplication form be read, completed, and either faxed, mailed or emailed to us. Our fax number and mailing address is listed in my email signature at the bottom:

If you haven't already, please examine the finding aid for this collection (link below) and let me know which materials you would like more information about. I see a reference to NDEA in Box 1, but I wasn't sure if there were other materials you would be interested in. Would you potentially like photocopies of these materials?
