Is there a transition, early on, perhaps in the mid-1970s, from a writer-teaching-writing to a writer-studying-his-own-writing? I guess I'm wondering how/whether/if Murray was inspired to begin researching or studying his own writing process, by folks like Perl, Graves, Emig, etc.
